The Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation (MFF), established in 1996 by siblings Nisha, Rahul, Jainesh, and Dharmesh in memory of their parents, is a Houston-based philanthropic initiative dedicated to cultivating intellectual talent in India by supporting education, research, and innovation in emerging fields of science and technology. Through long-term collaborations with premier institutions, the Foundation has established pioneering schools and centers such as the School of Biosciences at IIT Madras, the Center for Engineering in Medicine at IIT Kanpur, and Schools of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Palakkad, along with Mehta Family Schools of Sustainability and Biomedical Engineering at IIT Indore. MFF also promotes global academic engagement through initiatives like the Mehta Rice Engineering Scholars Program with Rice University and the MFF CARE (Collaborative for Academic and Research Excellence) platform, connecting Indian institutions with international faculty and leaders to foster curriculum development, workshops, and joint research.
